Self-Certification

  1. Jurisdiction of residence (including Hong Kong) means where the account holder is a resident for tax purposes For information on tax residence, please talk to your tax adviser or refer to the OECD Automatic Exchange Portal website.
  2. The term "TIN" (including "functional equivalent") means Taxpayer Identification Number or a functional equivalent in the absence of a TIN. A TIN is a unique combination of letters or numbers assigned by a jurisdiction to an individual or an Entity and used to identify the individual or Entity for the purposes of administering the tax laws of such jurisdiction. Further details of acceptable TINs can be found at the OECD Automatic Exchange Portal website.
    Some jurisdictions do not issue a TIN. However, these jurisdictions often utilise some other high integrity number with an equivalent level of identification (a "functional equivalent"). Examples of that type of number for individuals include a social security/insurance number, citizen/personal identification/service code/number, and resident registration number.
  3. An account holder should report all changes in his/ her tax residency status to the Bank.
  4. If the account holder is a tax resident of Hong Kong, the TIN is the Hong Kong Identity Card Number.
  5. If a TIN is unavailable and the reason is "The account holder is unable to obtain a TIN", please contact any of our branches.

Apply for Investment Service Online

  • Online application for investment service is only applicable to sole-name personal customers of Private Wealth, Wealth Management, Enrich Banking and i-Free Banking. Please visit any of our branches to apply for investment service for joint-name account.
  • After investment service application, customers can conduct transactions through Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, Automatic Stock Trading Hotline and Manned Investment Trading Hotline.
  • Your email address in our records will be updated automatically according to the information you provided for service application. Please make any future update via "Change Personal Information" under "My setting" of Internet Banking.
  • You are required to complete an Investment Preference Questionnaire during the service application process and your investment preference in our records will be updated automatically based on the results.

Open an Investment Service Account - Securities and General Investment

  • An "Investment Service Account - Securities and General Investment" includes securities, family securities account, monthly stocks savings plan, funds and debt securities services.
  • At the time of account opening, you can select one HKD Account, one Multi-Currency Account and one Renminbi Account as your registered settlement account.
  • From the day of successful account opening through Internet Banking, you can conduct transactions through Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and Automatic Stock Trading Hotline with immediate effect and also through the Manned Investment Trading Hotline on the next working day after account opening.
  • If you already opened the securities main account, you can activate the monthly stocks savings plan, funds and debt securities services through Internet Banking.
  • If you have opened the account at our branch, you can register the account on Internet Banking via "Account Registration" under "My Setting". Transactions can be conducted through any of the above electronic channels upon registration.

  • An "Investment Service Account - Precious Metal and FX Margin Trading" includes precious metal margin and FX margin trading services.
  • At the time of account opening, you can select one HKD Savings Account, one HKD Current Account and one Multi-Currency Account as your registered settlement accounts.
  • You can conduct transactions through Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and Manned Investment Trading Hotline from the next working day after successful account opening through Internet Banking.
  • If you have opened the account, you can register the account on Internet Banking via "Account Registration" under "My Setting". Transactions can be conducted through any of the above electronic channels upon registration.

  • An " Investment Service Account - Securities Margin Services” includes Hong Kong stock and Shanghai A Share margin trading services.
  • At the time of account opening, you can select one HKD Account, one Multi-Currency Account and one Renminbi Account as your registered settlement account.
  • The earliest time you can conduct transactions through Internet Banking, Mobile Banking and Manned Investment Trading Hotline is the next Securities Trading day upon account opening.
  • If you have opened the account, you can register the account on Internet Banking via "Account Registration" under "My Setting". Transactions can be conducted through any of the above electronic channels upon registration.

Description and explanation of investment product risk rating

  • The Bank classifies investment products into 5 levels (1 = Low Risk, 2 = Low to Medium Risk, 3 = Medium Risk, 4 = Medium to High Risk, 5 = High Risk) based on the Bank’s internal assessment, thereby assisting customers to understand and assess each product’s appropriateness in relation to their own risk appetite. The internal assessment of various factors to calculate the risk of maximum loss, includes but not limited to, the asset class that the product belongs to, currency risk, price risk, credit risk, complexity risk and liquidity risk etc., and is for reference only. The product risk rating will be assessed quarterly, but the Bank may revise the risk rating assigned to a product in case of event triggering without any prior notice.
